Gemotions

The sun was a malevolent eye, glaring down on Ben as he trudged down the street. The air hung thick and still, heavy with the promise of another sweltering day. He knew Chloe was at her photography workshop, chasing the light. He just wished he could find the strength to do the same.

He found the list tucked inside her camera bag, a small, slightly crumpled notebook. He hesitated, then opened it. “Go skydiving,” it read in a looping script. Skydiving? He’d always assumed she was afraid of heights.

“Visit every National Park,” the next line stated. He pictured their cramped apartment, the endless cycle of bills and chores. The list continued, a vibrant collection of desires he’d never suspected. A deep sigh escaped his lips.
